3. Strain into an ice-cold cocktail glass

4. Express the oils of a lemon peel over the top

5. Trim the peel and use as garnish

NOTES:

Light, silky and easy to underestimate - this is a Martini-adjacent drink for people who don't necessarily love a Martini. Cocchi Americano and manzanilla sherry replace vermouth's usual role, giving it a drier, saline edge.

This version swaps SONKLIN in for gin, letting the rice spirit's delicate character support the Cocchi Americano and sherry rather than compete with them the way gin's botanicals would.

HISTORY

The Jabberwock first appeared in Harry Craddock's The Savoy Cocktail Book in 1930, named as an homage to Lewis Carroll's nonsense poem "Jabberwocky."

It's remained a footnote next to more famous Savoy-era drinks, but it holds up as a genuinely elegant, low-key alternative to the classic Martini.
