STEPS

Strain over crushed ice into a footed highball.
Garnish with grated orange zest.
NOTES:
Swap Note: The original recipe (Naren Young, Dante) uses gin; this version uses Choeng Doi Blanc, trading juniper for a clean, grassy sugarcane character that lets the Meletti, sweet vermouth, and orange juice carry the drink's bitter-citrus profile.
Substitution: If you can't find Meletti, substitute Campari or Fernet-Branca.
HISTORY
Naren Young created the Negroni Frappé at Dante in New York City as a lower-proof, warm-weather riff on the Negroni, built with a hard shake and poured over crushed ice for an almost-frozen texture.
Our version replaces the gin with Choeng Doi Blanc. Its bright, unaged cane character keeps the drink refreshing and light on its feet, while Meletti, sweet vermouth, and orange juice retain the bittersweet, citrus-driven profile of the original.
